Livtro-Plus

Description

Livtro-plus is a combination medication used to treat allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and allergic skin conditions. It contains two active ingredients: montelukast sodium and levocetirizine hydrochloride.

• Montelukast sodium belongs to a class of medications called leukotriene receptor antagonists. Leukotrienes are chemicals released by the body during an allergic reaction that cause inflammation in the airways and nose. By blocking the action of leukotrienes, montelukast sodium helps to reduce swelling and congestion in the nose, sinuses, and airways. This can relieve symptoms such as a stuffy or runny nose, sneezing, and itchy, watery eyes.

• Levocetirizine hydrochloride is a second-generation antihistamine. Histamine is another chemical released by the body during an allergic reaction. It causes symptoms such as sneezing, a runny nose, itchy, watery eyes, and hives. Levocetirizine hydrochloride blocks the action of histamine, thereby providing relief from these allergy symptoms.

Livtro-plus is typically taken once a day, with or without food. It is important to take Livtro-plus exactly as prescribed by your doctor and to continue taking it even if you feel better. Stopping the medication suddenly may worsen your symptoms.
